Braces or aligners for children: how to choose
8 August 2026 · 4 min read
Fixed braces and clear aligners can both work beautifully for children. The right choice depends on the bite, the age and the child.

Where fixed braces still win
Brackets and wires stay on 24 hours a day, which makes them predictable for complex rotations, severe crowding and bite corrections that need continuous force. They require no cooperation beyond good cleaning.
Where clear aligners shine
Aligners are removable, comfortable and easy to clean, and they avoid the emergency visits that come with broken brackets. For mild to moderate cases and for children who are motivated to wear them 20–22 hours a day, the results are excellent.
Choosing together
We assess the bite first, then the practical reality: sports, instruments, oral hygiene, and how your child feels about their smile. The best appliance is always the one that will actually be worn.
