Invisalign Teen versus metal braces: an honest comparison
1 September 2026 · 6 min read
Both straighten teeth well. The real differences are hygiene, comfort, visibility and how much responsibility your teenager takes on.

Results are comparable for most cases
For crowding, spacing and many bite corrections, modern aligners achieve outcomes comparable to fixed braces. Complex rotations, impacted teeth and large skeletal discrepancies can still favour brackets or a combined approach.
Hygiene and dental health
Aligners are removed for brushing and flossing, which lowers the risk of white-spot decalcification and gum inflammation that fixed braces can cause in teenagers who brush inconsistently.
The compliance factor
Aligners only work in the mouth. Invisalign Teen includes blue wear indicators that fade with use, giving parents and clinicians an objective read on whether the twenty-two hour daily target is being met.
